Vision 2030, the Kingdom's plan for the future

Launched in 2016: a vibrant society, a thriving economy and an ambitious nation.

The vision

Saudi Vision 2030 was launched on 25 April 2016, after its approval by the Council of Ministers. It was announced by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, today Crown Prince and Prime Minister, as Chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs.

It rests on three themes: a vibrant society, a thriving economy and an ambitious nation. It is delivered through Vision Realization Programs, among them the Quality of Life Program, the Housing Program, the Human Capability Development Program, the Pilgrim Experience Program and the National Transformation Program.

Some of its goals

The official Vision document sets targets for 2030, including raising Umrah visitors from 8 million to 30 million a year, life expectancy from 74 to 80 years, and women's participation in the workforce from 22% to 30%, while lowering unemployment from 11.6% to 7%.

It also aims to grow the assets of the Public Investment Fund from SAR 600 billion to more than SAR 7 trillion, raise non-oil government revenue from SAR 163 billion to SAR 1 trillion, reach one million volunteers a year, and place three Saudi cities among the world's top 100.
