Raghadan Forest, juniper on the edge of the escarpment

A few kilometres from the centre of Al-Baha, an old juniper forest falls away towards the Tihama plain.

A forest above Tihama

Raghadan Forest lies on the slopes of the Sarawat Mountains west of Al-Baha city, about 4 km from its centre, at some 1,700 m above sea level. Juniper makes up about 90% of its cover, with pine, acacia, olive and almond among the rest. From its edge, misty trails open onto sweeping views of the Tihama plains.

It is the region's great draw: Saudipedia reports that it receives 90% of the visitors who come to Al-Baha region.

Paths, waterfalls and summer nights

Stone walkways, shaded seating, kiosks and illuminated waterfalls run through the trees. The municipality counts 1,230 parking spaces, 14 playgrounds and 384,787 m² of green space, and in 2025 it announced a new 230-metre walking path.

In summer the forest hosts entertainment and cultural events as part of the Al-Baha Summer Program. Close by, the Raghadan historic neighbourhood keeps multi-storey houses of stacked stone and its old terraced fields; its squares hosted the Raghadan Front Festival from July to September 2022.
