The museum
The Al-Ahsa Archaeological and Heritage Museum stands in the city of al-Hufuf, in Al-Ahsa Governorate. It was established in 1983 and officially opened in 1997, on about 4,000 m², with a further 1,300 m² behind it for heritage activities.
The collection
It holds about 1,400 archaeological and heritage pieces, along with photographs, manuscripts, documents and coins, arranged by period: Stone Age finds from sites such as Ain Qanas, Bronze Age material linked to the Dilmun civilisation, a stone tablet in Hasaitic Musnad script, and displays on the Islamic period and the Saudi states.
It is the natural first stop before exploring the Al-Ahsa Oasis.
